Tampa’s dining just got a whole lot bigger. That’s right, at long last Harpoon Harry’s is ready to open. The restaurant announced its grand opening for January 24
The roughly 500-seat seafood hub will feature a sushi bar and main bar, in addition to its outdoor mezzanine area. At the center of it all is an old school 1920s Chevy Truck. Hey, when you’re in the Sunshine State you have to go big.
This restaurant is a bastion of summertime indulgences. Big BBQ pulled pork sandwiches stacked with onions straws, Hawaiian shrimp salad with house made coconut cream sauce and fried gator bites are all on the menu.
Customers can sip on bright margaritas, bulky Bloody Marys and screwdrivers, too. It’s a paradise situated one the ground floor of the Tampa Convention Center. Tentative hours are Monday through Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-midnight, and Sunday 11am-10pm.
This isn’t the restaurant’s first location in Florida. Harpoon Harry’s has been named the Best Waterfront Restaurant, Best Open Air Restaurant and Best Place to Have a Beer by Sun Herald Readers.
Owners invest nearly $3.6 million in converting the 10,000 square foot space into a family-friendly restaurant and bar. Harpoon Harry’s is located at 225 South Franklin Street.
